In some parts of the world, girls can't go to school if they have their period. That's what happens to some girls in Southern Africa. Why? They don't have tampons or pads. Missing a few days of school every month adds up. They fall behind on their school work, sometimes so far behind they drop out. Getting pads to these girls on a regular basis is a great start to helping them stay in school.
